  • Carboxymethylcellulose (0.5%w/v) + Stabilized Oxychloro Complex (SOC) 0.005%

  • 1)Carboxymethylcellulose (0.5%w/v)

  • Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) is a substance made from cellulose that dissolves in water. It is often used in products like food, cosmetics, and medicine to make them thicker or to help them stay mixed together. A 0.5% w/v solution of CMC means that a little bit of the substance is dissolved in a lot of water. This concentration is often used in eye drops to help people who have dry eyes.

A 0.5% w/v solution of carboxymethylcellulose means that 0.5 grams of the polymer are dissolved in 100 milliliters of water (w/v stands for "weight/volume"). This concentration is relatively low and is often used as an ingredient in eye drops, where it acts as a lubricant and helps to relieve dry eyes.

  • 2)Stabilized Oxychloro Complex (SOC) 0.005%

  • Stabilized Oxychloro Complex (SOC) is a substance used in some contact lens solutions. It's added in a very small amount, usually 0.005%, to help disinfect and clean the lenses. SOC works by releasing tiny amounts of chlorine dioxide, which can kill harmful microorganisms that might be on the lenses.

It is a combination of chlorine dioxide, chlorite and chlorate which causes oxidation of intracellular lipids and glutathione, interrupting vital enzymes for cell function and maintenance. It has demonstrated antimicrobial activity against bacteria, viruses and some fungi. Because of its propensity to generate free radicals, it is an effective oxidizer and also breaks down rapidly when exposed to the ocular surface. SOC, a non-irritating preservative is useful for ophthalmic products used chronically or with a compromised ocular surface.
